  5. It's 3/4 cup of skim milk.
  6. Prepare 2 tbsp of vegetable oil.

I prefer my homemade flour tortillas with shortening. I think the oil makes for the prettiest looking flour tortilla but the shortening just gives it a taste and These homemade flour tortillas have taken our weekly taco night to a new level!   1. Combine all of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix with your hands until its a giant sticky Icky ball.
  3. Transfer to a well floured surface and kneed for at least 5 minutes adding more flour as you go so it won't stick.
  4. Put the dough back into the bowl and let it rest covered for at least 30 minutes.
  5. After it had rested divide the dough into 10 small balls, or 5 if you prefer a bigger tortilla, put it back in the bowl and let it rest for another 10 minutes covered.
  6. Now get your rolling pin and roll out the balls into discs.
  7. Heat up a pan, and once its hot throw the tortilla on there and let it cook for a couple of minutes, flip and leave for another minute or so.
  8. Place on a plate and cover with a clean towel, this should last up to 10 days in the freezer, probably more.
  9. Guess what I had for lunch.

Using lard is the "only" way to go. The flavor far outweighs the so called health risks. ProsSimple to make with very few ingredients. Easily adapts to make a larger batch for storing in the refrigerator or freezer. Cassava flour tortillas are super easy to make, taste as good as a flour tortilla, and make the best gluten-free, grain-free, and Paleo tacos!
